Educational Philosophy

Foundation Christian Academy seeks to lead students to become fully devoted followers of Christ. The mission of Foundation Christian Academy is to first serve God in every thought and deed. And second, to serve families and children by giving them a Biblically-based education centered on a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, imparting a Christian world view, and emphasizing godly character and academic excellence.

Foundation Christian Academy exists as an extension of the Christian home. We serve to educate, equip, and encourage the total child – spirit, mind and body – which can only be done in a loving atmosphere where God’s Word is given preeminence and is seen as the basis for all wisdom, all understanding, and all knowledge. Our educational plan is to determine students’ level of development, analyze their abilities and advance their education to their highest potential. We hold to high spiritual, academic and social standards specified in the Bible, both for ourselves and for the future leaders and citizens we are educating.

Educational Objectives

Students gain greater knowledge of God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and develop an awareness of the wonder of His creation. Students develop a sense of self-worth because of who they are in Jesus Christ. Students begin to discover the unique gifts God has given them and the best way to use those gifts to bless others. Students will begin and continue to develop a Christian worldview based upon the teachings found in Scripture and use this view to make their decisions for today and eternity. Students will begin and continue to develop a Christian worldview based upon the teachings found in Scripture and use this view to make their decisions for today and eternity. Students develop their full academic potential through a desire for knowledge, understanding and wisdom. Students will begin to understand that striving for excellence brings glory to God and His Son Jesus Christ. Students gain useful skills to make them contributing members and outstanding citizens of the next generation to their churches, communities, and country. Students will then begin to use this knowledge and understanding as well as gained wisdom to further God’s will in a fallen world. Students grow in self-discipline and responsibility for themselves and others. Students develop respect for other people and for the property of others. Students learn to appreciate the guidance, support, training and love given by those in authority at home and school.

Why Christian Education?

There are many reasons parents choose a Christian education for their children some good and some poor. The best reason for choosing a Christian education is because you believe that God wants you to provide your children with godly training, not just at home, but at church and at school as well.

What are a few of the other good reasons for choosing a Christian education? What follows is only a partial list.

Parents responsibility to train. You as parents, recognize that Scripture is clear that the parents are called to train their children, but you also realize that you need help to accomplish this. You need your beliefs and training to be reinforced when you can’t be there with your child, so you look to Christian education for that help.

Biblically centered curriculum.
Christ is the Creator, the Sustainer, and Redeemer. The triune God is everywhere, in everything and therefore should be given preeminence in all areas of our lives and facets of ones educational training. Christian school curriculum does just that. It shows, links, and identifies God to every subject. Not something you get in a secular education.

Godly examples teaching your children. Children spend anywhere from 6 to more than 11 hours a day at school away from your direct influence. With a Christian education your child will be taught by and interacting with Christian teachers and staff who are fellow believers following a call to partner with you to train your children.

Focus placed upon a Christian world view. As children mature, they begin to make more decisions for themselves. A Christian education trains them to use the Bible and godly principles to judge right from wrong and to compare information and choices to the truth taught in Scripture. A Christian education stresses that all areas of life, vocational choices, view of history and governments, be looked at and understood from a Biblical viewpoint.

Godly character traits taught. The Bible is so much more than a book of how to get to heaven. It’s a book of how to know God, the character of God and of how to live a life pleasing to the Creator. A Christian education teaches and stresses the godly character traits of servanthood, obedience, responsibility, commitment, and self-sacrifice just to mention a few.

These are just a few of the many reasons to choose a Christian education. If these are some of the reasons that you are looking for a Christian education for your children, then God will bless you and your family and He will provide the means by which you can afford the investment in time, commitment and of course finances.

History of FCA

On August 31st,  1981, the doors of Grace Christian School were opened for the very first time. The school began with 96 students occupying five Sunday School classrooms.  In May of 1985, Penn Junction Elementary School was purchased from the Pattonville School District, which was our home for 28 years. GCA became a ministry of Dorsett Village Church in January of 2012. We then spent four years in the Briarcrest building in Pattonville, and then we spent a year in Overland. In 2018, GCA began to serve the community of Florissant in the facility of Christ First, located at 2890 Patterson Road Florissant, MO 63031.

In the fall of 2023, we turned the page to the next chapter that God has for His school as Foundation Christian Academy. We believe that from these doors, students will be prepared to serve God in many ways, their jobs and responsibilities may vary greatly, but all will be intent on one purpose – to reach people in their community and help them to enter into a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
